Here I am in Singapore after a pretty incredible flight from London.
When we arranged the flight ages ago we used the Amex air miles we'd saved to book ourselves two hot seats in British Airways First Class - what a treat! It's so nice, as a nervous flyer, to actually be able to look forward to a flight.
The lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 is beautiful. The food and drink (champagne on tap and silver service) is all included and there is lots of space to sit around and relax before your flight.
The only downside I could find was that it was full of bespectacled middle-aged miserable people!
We were pretty gobsmacked when we got on board. The First Class cabin is lit up in wonderful fluorescent blue and looks ultra sleek. We were taken to our seats and immediately offered a glass of champagne.
The seats are wide and spacious and there is lots of room around you to put all your stuff - including your own little cupboard with hanger. The television screen is big too. I watched two movies - The Campaign and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the latter being the better of the two.
When you want to eat, the lovely stewardess set up a table for us at Alex's seat so that we could eat together! How amazing is that! The food was really good and served on proper plates without a plastic piece of cutlery in sight.
After dinner, I had a nice coffee and Baileys then fell asleep out for about 5 hours.
About an hour and a half before the end of the flight we were served a bit of breakfast - the pastries were delicious!
Having got a good amount of sleep on the plane, we arrived at Changi Airport reasonably fresh and awake. We're only here for a stop-over so we checked into The Crowne Plaza hotel at the airport itself.
It's a nice hotel I suppose but they always go down in my estimation somewhat when they want to charge $28 for internet. Also, I was a bit confused as to why this was on the side in our room
A leftover plate of mini desserts, complete with the crumbs of the items that had already been consumed, covered in clingfilm. Lovely, thanks for that!
We're up early in the morning to fly Singapore Airlines to Male, Maldives. It's a 4 and a half hour flight so not too bad. So excited about getting to Cocoa Island!
P.S. Before we left, I made sure Jimmy made an agreement with Ian to be a good boy while we were away. The handshake was caught on camera as evidence
