Didn't the UK do well!
Well, no they didn't as usual. Denmark won and we came 19th of 26 countries but then we expected nothing more from the predominantly political voting competition. Admittedly our song wasn't great but let's face it, when it comes to having mates in Europe the UK ain't gonna win any prizes.
But that doesn't mean it can't be fun!
We placed some bets. If Greece had won we'd have probably been on the next flight out of here and into the sun. They didn't but they did well with their silly but catchy song Alcohol Is Free!
Alex and I decided to invite a few lovely people round for some food, drink and to enjoy the show.
I made this white chocolate popcorn after seeing Rebecca's recipe on This Woman's Style. It ended up going down an absolute storm! So naughty but so moreish! The inclusion of a few teaspoons of cake mix really adds something. I'll definitely be making this again for my next get together.
Our party was fancy dress - the only rules, to come as a European country - so I decided to go as host nation Sweden.
The blue slingback shoes I'm wearing are from River Island...I love the colour.
Alex dressed up as Greece (naturally) and Jimmy Chew as The Netherlands.
He is a Dutch Barge Dog after all.
At this point, I'd love to bring you lots of stunning party photographs of all the action, laughter and Eurovision excitement! But to be honest with you, although I took a picture of our very first guests to arrive - Italy and France
...the camera was then put down and not picked up again until the early hours. It's not very professional for a blogger and I do apologise....sorry.
But here are a few I did take!
Alex remains anonymous.......
And while Jimmy decided he'd rather watch Al Murray The Pub Landlord than socialise
We had a dance and some Apple Sourz downstairs (hic!)
A very fun night was had and luckily there were no sore heads in our household the next morning. Not even Jimmy Chew. It's a shame we didn't win big on the Eurovision but maybe next year, eh?
In other news, look at this gorgeous picture Alex bought me
When it comes to me, you can't go wrong with Elvis Presley. I've been a huge fan since I was 8.
He's now perfectly placed on our wall at the top of the stairs. Very happy with that.
I hope you all had lovely weekends! How is it Monday again tomorrow already??
