It was a very early start this morning to catch our flight to Zante.
We're staying at Porto Zante, a boutique resort of only six villas in Tragaki. We stayed here for the the first time last June and were so bowled over by the beauty of the place as well as the excellent service that we made the rare decision to return to the same place again.
So here we are - all as we remembered. Beautiful panoramic views over the Ionian Sea, gorgeous villa and garden, sun all day long. There's a private sandy beach that always seems to be pleasingly empty of other guests.
The food here is exceptional, particularly the fish. The hotel has their own fishing boat that goes out daily and returns around 10am - the fisherman visits each villa individually with a bucket of today's catches and asks what you'd like for your lunch or dinner. Last time I was here, I ate the best fish I'd ever experienced.
Today we arrived to the same wonderful service we'd remembered. We had a gorgeous fresh fruit platter waiting for us on our patio along with a bottle of Greek house wine.
I love watermelon when the weather is hot!
We dived straight into a spot of lunch. Fish fillet, pesto and vegetables for me (I'm not sure what type of fish it was today) and spaghetti bolognese for Alex.
We had a little walk around the resort to remind ourselves how beautiful it is.
We met the Porto Zante dog again! He was just a little puppy last time we were here! He's been freshly shaved for the hot weather. What a cutie.
Here's my first book of choice for the holiday
And my first cocktail! The cocktails here are very good indeed.
I know we're on holiday but we did inquired if there was a gym. There wasn't.
But look what the staff brought to our villa!
Now that's service!
Right, we're off for a spot of dinner now. I get slightly obsessed with moussaka whenever I come to Greece and basically order it for every evening meal. I predict tonight will be no different...
