Three Go To Vegas - Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of our trip to Las Vegas.

To start off, a couple of restaurant recommendations. One of my favourite places to eat in Vegas is at restaurant/bar/shop The Sugar Factory.

This place is affordable, informal and best of all, open 24/7. Having experienced their breakfast, lunch, cocktail and 4am menu, I can confirm their food is all ultra-indulgent, big and very, very tasty.

They serve inventive cocktails such as this one - the Cotton Candy

Delicious but really sweet - not one to drink with a barbecue chicken pizza (like I did)

Another restaurant we had to return to was Diablos Cantina; a Mexican you'll find next to the Monte Carlo hotel. It has a very chilled out bar atmosphere which is also great value with fantastic food in even bigger portions than above

The pulled pork sandwich I had was to die for and their iced cocktails are very nice too.

See how tall that plate of nachos is??

We decided not to attempt the death wing challenge (exceedingly hot chicken wings) having last time seen a man reduced to a jibbering wreck before our very eyes. But many others have though - the majority failing...

Walking along The Strip in the scorching summer heat is a tiring business but it has to be done to get those tourist snaps.

And sometimes you have to go up high...

I loved the customer service guide we saw when we had to take the employee lift - if only the etiquette were the same in the UK!

As I said in the last post, I decided not to take my camera on all our nights out for fear of losing it. However, I did take it along on one of the best - a night consisting of a Chinese dinner, an incredible show and a mega glamorous nightclub.

As we did each night, we changed into our party dresses and super high heels

...and headed for dinner at Blossom in Aria.

It's posh Chinese in a very stylish atmosphere. Not particularly cheap (not many of the hotel restaurants are) but the food was great as was the service we received.

Vegetarians, look away now!

We had the Peking duck! As much as I do love duck, I wasn't so keen on having the whole thing - avec head - plonked in front of me

But damn, it tasted good!

With our bellies full, we headed over to Caesars Palace to see Absinthe.

Those with VIP tickets enter through a rather random green phone box

Absinthe is a brilliant show combining comedy (not for the prudish!), risque performances and acrobatics.

There is some audience participation but luckily we didn't get picked on despite being in the second row back. Or this could have been me in the chair

Afterwards it was on to a relatively new club that's opened its doors. Smaller than most of the others but competing in the glamour stakes - Hyde at the Bellagio.

The club over-looks the Bellagio lake and you can imagine how stunning it was when the fountains began to dance.

Wow!

And with the awesome music and our little table, what a fabulous night we had.

We'll definitely be back here next time.

One of my final Vegas photos that I couldn't really find a home for but wanted to show you - the stunning Chandelier Bar in The Cosmopolitan.

Visit here before dinner in STK and dancing in Marquee - all in the same hotel.

So that was what I chronicled from Vegas 2013! Sadly I had to miss out The Thunder From Down Under, New Kids On The Block at Pure nightclub and staying up 'til 9am to watch the Wimbledon final. Sorry about that.

But at least I came home with my camera rather than without it and we had such a great time. I recommend everyone goes there at least once. Even if you don't think it will be your thing - you may well be surprised!

If anyone is going to Vegas and needs any tips, I think I'm just about qualified to help out now! Drop me a line on TwitterFacebook or at cocktailsandcaroline@yahoo.co.uk

  1. Loved reading this. We had a great meal at Sugar Factory for the start of my sisters hen night with huge cocktails complete with jelly sweets! I'd definitely go back there.

I don't think I could ever get bored of the Bellagio fountains!

    1. Hi Paula! You're here! :D

I am too - I never get bored of them! Even after a few vodkas in the club I was still out there watching in wonder each time they danced. Amazing.
