One Night In Heaven

I enjoy writing my blog posts about my nights out with my mate and ex insurance colleague Paul, aka Chantelle. Regular readers may recall us partying in style on Canal Street or showing off our best frocks at the Brighton Races. Whatever the occasion and location, it's always a heck of a lot of fun.

No changing of counties was required this particular evening though; Chantelle, Angela, Laura and I had a girl's night out planned in the West End. The venue was Heaven, the event was G.A.Y.

But this was not before we had lined our stomachs and been charmed by a belly dancer at Maison Touareg, a traditional Moroccan restaurant on Greek Street.

The average food here left rather a lot to be desired (certainly not a patch on the wonderful Mamounia Lounge) but there was a good atmosphere and Chanty got more than her fair share of compliments from the waitresses!

We hopped to a bar or two on Old Compton Street before deciding to try and get into superclub Heaven, self-proclaimed The World's Most Famous Gay Nightclub.

And the quickest way to whiz us from Soho to Charing Cross? One of these!

Chanty was our ticket into the club - they don't tend to let groups of girls in as a rule. The security checks involved to get through the doors was pretty intense but once we were in we could forget the queues and let the fun start.

That is if you don't count the massive queue to put your coat away....and the six person deep queues to get a drink...

It's not very glamorous inside - it's a bit like a huge warehouse with brick walls and exposed pipes along the ceiling. The first huge room played mainly electro and house music but it was the smaller room spinnning the cheesy tracks that really kept us on the dancefloor, doing our thing to the likes of Billie Piper and S Club 7.

There was a special guest appearance in the form of Leona Lewis. She did a wonderfully glamorous performance and the crowd loved her. Doing our best to sing along to Bleeding Love at the very tops of our voices was definitely a highlight!

After Leona's performance it was back through to the other room to see the night out dancing to the cheese. It was knocking on 4am before we decided to retire our high heels and head off for home.

Another blindin' night out resulting in a pair of very sore feet the next day!

Here's to another girl's trip to Manchester early next year.
