Manchester Madness

On Saturday afternoon, the usual suspects and I hopped on the train and headed up to Manchester for another of our notorious nights of high heels, many laughs and much dancing. As before, this was all to was to take place on the road of raucousness that is Canal Street. Despite being the centre of the city's Gay Village, Canal Street attracts a real diverse mix of people - gay, straight, young and old - all with the same intention which is to have a ruddy great night out.

We started it off in the best possible way; bubbles and nibbles.

And, of course, Chico

And why not? We resisted the urge to ask him what time it was.

The night ended up being another classic. It began reasonably sensibly in the hotel bar at 7pm and we returned there about nine hours later around 4.30am.

It was another fantastic night out with great friends. Not surprisingly, there were sore heads and tired feet the next morning!

Luckily, we discovered a little gem of a place in the form of the gorgeous Richmond Tea Rooms.

And yes, that is a Bloody Mary you spy! There's a lot to be said for 'hair of the dog'!

We ordered our tea and strong black coffees too of course.

And as the 1920's music played gently in the background of this traditional tea house, we tucked into our tasty breakfasts. Deciding against my usual healthy egg white omelette, I went for the far naughtier eggs benedict. It was served just as it should be with runny yolks, brioche muffins and lashings of perfectly seasoned hollandaise. Just want the doctor ordered!

It was the perfect pick-me-up after a fabulous night!

I hope you've all had great weekends guys! Let me know what you got up to!

  15. By the end of a night like this, I'd be looking old and haggard, and yet somehow, after 9 hours of partying, you still look just as lovely as always. Life isn't fair. :)
